Here are some pictures of the Grade 6/7 Awards.

For the last two days of school, students will participate in a variety of events:
Monday:
Grade 8’s to the beach all day; Grade 8 Farewell and Dance in the evening
Grades 6 & 7: Fun activities with class in the morning; movie at the Capitol Theatre in the PM; Dance at 7:15 – 9:15.

Tuesday morning- Report Cards go home

Join WMS in celebrating our Grade 8 class in our annual Farewell Ceremony on Monday at 6:30pm in the gym. This year’s theme is ‘Follow your Dreams’. The ceremony will last from 6:30 – 7:15. (Grade 8s should be at the school by 6:00). Following the ceremony, a ‘Meet and Greet’ will take place in the lower hallways. (Parents are reminded to bring finger foods to share.) A school dance will be held until 9:15 (Grade 6/7 depart) and 10:00 for Grade 8s. After the dance, there will be an ice cream extravaganza organized by the parents until 11:00.

Mr. MacDonald’s and Ms. Vanonen’s “Have the Nerve to Serve” volunteering exploratory organized a food drive at WMS. All of the students in the school were asked to bring in donations. Thank you for helping!

Big thanks to Mme Josianne’s 6B class for planting the WMS flower garden this year.

Thank you to all of the PAC members who have attended meetings through the year. Due to the hectic nature of the end of the year, there will be no meeting this month. Thank you for understanding. Please feel free to contact the school at any time

On Friday, June 18th, WMS will be holding a BBQ for the students and parents. Originally, we were hoping to have a Feeding of the Fire but since there is a fire ban in Yellowknife, we are unable to do so. Instead, we are hoping to have drummers come to WMS for demonstration for the students before the BBQ. At 11:00, we will start our assembly and by 11:35 we should be eating. Buffalo burgers and hotdogs are on the menu. Lunch will finish at our normal time of 12:15 so that we can continue our Exploratory program in the afternoon at 12:20. Please feel free to come out and visit the school.

The third round of Exploratories have started at WMS this week. Students are involved in a variety of activities, from Home Economics and Industrial Arts, to Art with Bill Reid, and Volunteering across Yellowknife and in the schools. Over the year, we have had a great deal of support for our Exploratory program from the community. Thank you!
